IEW Writing Basics (6th-8th)
Students apply style techniques and structure to weekly writing assignments. Note-taking, summarizing, narratives, short reports, critiques, along with creative writing offer a variety of writing opportunities. Students learn to write, edit and present their work. A compilation of the student’s best work at the end of the year creates a tangible encouragement for even the most timid writers.
Covering the nine IEW units, this course develops composition, grammar, and vocabulary skills while students write about American history from the Explorers to the Gold Rush.This Student Book contains assignments, instructions, engaging source texts, blank outlines, checklists, sample compositions, and clever vocabulary cards.

Writing assignments from IEW (Institute in Excellence in Writing), a grammar workbook, vocabulary and literature blend to develop a well-rounded student. Materials include ACT preparation as well as presentation opportunities.
$375 with $50 Supply Fee ($125/$150/$150)
Tutor will supply list of books and supplies needed at registration.

We will be using writing materials from The Institute of Excellence in Writing in addition of a grammar workbook, vocabulary book, literary anthology, and additional novels. The literary focus in odd numbered years (2014-15, 2016-17, etc.) will be on American literature and in even numbered years (2015-16, 2017-18, etc.) will be on British literature.
